It's time for some fun Tt activities!!! We hope you enjoy these! If you are new, you can visit our ABC webpage to find links to any other letters we have done, letters (with books listed) coming up, as well as the PDF of the cover sheet for your ABC notebook!
Summary: Observing a maple tree over time, children get a clear picture of what trees do and how seasons change. In summer, the tree is shown sunbathing and brimming with animal life. With autumn comes the flowing sap that makes maple syrup for pancakes. As winter approaches, the trees leaves begin to fall, and it becomes nearly dormant. The beautiful photographs and simple text introduce young readers to the wonders of each season and encourage them to look closer at the natural world around them.
Tt is for Tree - 2 options
Option 1:
- Cut out and glue the Tt template to a piece of construction paper (see below for the link). - Give your LO brown paint and have them paint on construction paper.
- When done, give them green paint and have them paint again.
- Label it 'Tt is for Tree'. {We added some freshly mowed grass because she wanted texture on the green!}
Option 2:
- Paint your LO's arm brown and press onto construction paper {don't forget to have things handy to clean off their arm!}.
- Paint LO's hands green press at the top of your tree trunk to be the green tree leaves & clean off hands. Set aside to dry.
- While drying, take your LO outside with some crayons and their Tt template to make tree bark rubbings.
- Cut out and glue to the tree and add 'T is for Trees'.
- Hole punch and add to alphabet book binder.
Seasonal Tree page
Print off the 4 seasons tree coloring pages: Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter. I printed them off 3x5 so they fit on one sheet. Laminate or place in a sheet protector. Now your LO can color with dry erase crayons or markers (that you are storing in the front pocket for the other color sheets).
More Tree Fun
- Go observe a tree up close with a microscope and see what you find talk about what animals make homes in trees! {right now we have a giant honey bee colony living in our front tree so it is always buzzing, my LO says the tree sings with bees! :) they ran out or squirrel family :( in our backyard we have a owl and hawk living in our trees! :) } So we love checking out trees! :)
- Make Toilet Paper roll 4 seasons trees
- Make bird feeders and bird houses to hang in trees out of milk jugs. This is a more mommy involved project, but you might be surprised at how much they help out. We made these last year and ours looked no where near that, but the girls still loved their bird houses and that is all that counts! :)
wishing I wouldn't have chosen seasons for letter S, I do have a great file folder game I created for my kids that would go right along with letter T also!!! And here is our T verse: Teach us to use wisely all the time we have.. Psalm 90:12.
