Deviled Egg Sailboats
These sailboats were quickly gobbled up ~ they only had a chance to sit and look pretty on the plate for the picture! Thanks to Family Fun for this yummy idea. :)
The Book Before You Cook…
Busy Boats by Tony Mitton
Summary: Your little one will learn all about different kinds of boats and how they work in this fun rhyming book.
When It’s Time to Cook…
You’ll Need:
- 6-8 hard boiled eggs
- 2 tsp. mustard
- 1/3 cup mayonnaise
- red, yellow, and orange peppers…or whatever color your heart desires!
- a cutting board
- mixing bowl
- spoon and fork
- knife for slicing
- To Make:
- Peel the hardboiled eggs and cut them in half from top to bottom. Take out the yolks.
- Use the fork to squish the yolks. Mix in the mayonnaise and mustard.
- Cut the peppers in half and remove the seeds.
- Cut the peppers into 1 inch strips, then cut the strips to make 1” squares. Slice the squares in half diagonally to make triangles {sails for the boats.
- Fill the egg halves with the yolk mix. Place a pepper sail into the filling so it will stand up.
- Enjoy eating them while you are reading the book together!
