In My Heart ~ Spring, 2 Corinthians 5:17

This is another of the special seasonal verses from Songs for Saplings. As Easter approaches and we begin to see the signs of spring appearing {hopefully soon for all} we are reminded of our own transformation through Christ.  May this time of new life be a time of celebrating new life in Christ with our tots!

Once Upon a Book ~ The Noisy Egg

The Noisy Egg

Summary: After a Mommy builds a nest for her eggs, 3 little ducklings are born.

SONG: FIVE LITTLE DUCKS

Five little ducks
Went out one day
Over the hill and far away
Mother duck said
"Quack, quack, quack, quack."
But only four little ducks came back.

Four little ducks
Went out one day
Over the hill and far away
Mother duck said
"Quack, quack, quack, quack."
But only three little ducks came back.

Three little ducks
Went out one day
Over the hill and far away
Mother duck said
"Quack, quack, quack, quack."
But only two little ducks came back.

Two little ducks
Went out one day
Over the hill and far away
Mother duck said
"Quack, quack, quack, quack."
But only one little duck came back.

One little duck
Went out one day
Over the hill and far away
Mother duck said
"Quack, quack, quack, quack."
But none of the five little ducks came back.

Sad mother duck
Went out one day
Over the hill and far away
The sad mother duck said
"Quack, quack, quack."
And all of the five little ducks came back. 

ART ACTIVITY

For this activity you will need:

* Easy shapes duck craft from First School
* Crayons, Glue, Scissors

To make:

* Have child color each part of the duck.  While doing this talk about the different shapes.
* Cut out the duck.
* Have child glue it together.

SENSORY TABLE 

Fill up a water table or tote with some water and let child play in it with ducks that float.

SNACK TIME

For this activity you will need:

* Duck candy molds (can be found at Hobby Lobby)
* White Chocolate
* Yellow Food Coloring
* Lollipop Sticks

To make:

* Melt chocolate
* Add food coloring to melted chocolate and stir
* Put melted chocolate in the candy molds
* Add a lollipop stick to each
* Let dry

MOTOR SKILLS

Pretend to be a duck ~ The idea is to have your child bend down until almost sitting on the ground and flap their arms and quack.  However, once McKenzee saw the duck whistle (bought at Big Lots) she was done waddling.

NUMBERS

Duck Counting ~ Print these ducks and pond mat; Count ducks one at a time and place on pond.

GAME

Play a game of lucky ducks.  Help child match the shapes.
