Terrific Tot Sites ~ Tot School Highlights

Every Sunday Carisa hosts a feature on her other blog called Tot School. If you are one who doesn't know that, you can go here to read more about it! She has over 60 moms joining up weekly, so there are plenty of wonderful resources and ideas to find.

This week we’re highlighting one of our writers, Carissa from My Life on a Taffy Pull. Carissa writes for our Get Real With God feature on Sundays and is a mom of 6 wonderful children. Her youngest, Laffy Taffy, is 32 months old and the focus of her Tot School time.

Laffy Taffy was a little younger here, but when he was bored sorting bears by color, he had a lot of fun using a spoon to transfer the bears to containers.

If you need an idea for your sensory table, how about using flour and vehicles ~ it would definitely make great vehicle tracks!

While Laffy Taffy isn’t doing dishes here {he’s using an ice cream scoop to tranfer snow}, it reminds me that sometimes the simplest activities can be so much fun for tots! Pull up a stool and let your little one wash the dishes or some toys for fun!

Carisa has a great suggestion for board games you find that might have things on them you don’t like {wizards or genies, etc….}. Use a Sharpie marker to color over the images. A great idea for those yard sale and thrift store finds!!

Another great sensory table idea ~ use a spray bottle with colored water and fill the table with snow or even shaved/chipped ice.

Don’t forget those tweezers and pom poms! You can sort by color or size, count and build fine motor skills all at the same time!

The Terrific Tot Sites feature is designed to help you find fun and safe websites to visit with your toddler. Some of the sites are educational in nature and some are just plain fun! If this is your first time visiting, be sure to check out some of the toddler websites that we've featured in the past.

Hope you enjoy this Terrific Tot Site! To see more featured sites, click here!

I absolutely love your website! I love all the ABC activities and plan on using a lot of your ideas as I'm a teacher. However, I do think that the flour table is not a very good idea. I can't imagine having flour everywhere and I'm not one to care about dirt (I have 3 kids). How about a rice table. Or just sand? At least clean-up will be easier than flour tracking everywhere. Just wanted to say that I love all your other ideas and books. Just thought I'd give some alternative ideas to the "flour table". Thanks again!
