Photobucket

Book Summary: As the sun sets behind the big construction site, all the hardworking trucks get ready to say goodnight. One by one, Crane Truck, Cement Mixer, Dump Truck, Bulldozer, and Excavator finish their work and lie down to rest—so they'll be ready for another day of rough and tough construction play! This book has irresistible artwork and sweet, rhyming text.

Cement Mixer Smoothies:

Smoothies are an easy treat to make with your tot. Better yet, they're healthy! To go along with the cement mixer in Goodnight, Goodnight Construction Site, we made Cement Mixer Smoothies. (The way the blender mixes reminds me of a cement mixer)

For this snack you will need:
  • 1-2 cups Fruit (we used fresh strawberries and frozen blueberries)
  • 1 cup Ice
  • Splash of milk or juice
  • Blender
We used what we had around our house (strawberries and blueberries) to make the smoothies. The great thing about smoothies are that they are pretty forgiving and you can add what you like. Feel free to experiment with different combinations to include your favorite fruits.

Have your tot wash their hands and grab their foot stool to help. Wash the fruit and cut any stems off that need to be removed (strawberries).

Have your tot place the fruit and ice in the blender. Pour a splash of milk or juice in the blender.

Place the top on the blender. Let your tot help you by pushing the button. (This is my helper's favorite part!)

Once the smoothie is mixed, pour into a glass....don't forget the straw!

What a great idea!  My son loves smoothies, but I always make them for him.  I always love your ideas, Sara.  They are so simple, but unique.
