Little Books for Little Cooks ~ Snowmen on a Stick

Little Books for Little Cooks
Welcome to the first Little Books for Little Cooks! Twice a month we will share a fun book to read with your little one along with a cooking activity to do that ties in with the featured book. Sometimes there may be actual cooking involved…and sometimes just fun!

Summary: A great first book about winter for little ones that has rhyming text and touch and feel texture pages!

Can you tell who made which one? {grins}

These snowmen might not be icy cold, but they are certainly fruity and fun {and healthy!}. Depending on the age of your child, they may need more help to put them together, but they won’t need any help eating them! After reading the book together, have fun building your own snowman in your toasty warm house!

You’ll Need:
  • Bananas, sliced
  • Blueberries or grapes {we used frozen blueberries}
  • Carrot
  • Apple
  • Celery
  • Bamboo skewers
  • Mini chocolate chips
To Make:
  1. Slice bananas fairly thick. You will need three banana slices, a blueberry/grape, carrot sliver, and apple slice for each snowman.
  2. Slide the fruit onto the skewer, bananas first, then top with an apple hat and blueberry/grape.
  3. Use mini chocolate chips for eyes and buttons and a tiny carrot slice for a nose.
  4. Add thinly sliced celery pieces as arms.
  5. Enjoy!

Very cute. This is perfect...we just bought some bananas. We don't have a few of the other items but my 2yo daughter would have a hard time with some of it anyhow...esp if I have to go tend to the baby. I've checked out a similar book before about winter. The textures are really fun.
